Lifetime Docks began with one man, visiting a beautiful lake, and a vision for a great potential of increasing the lake life experience. Tom LeJeune, along with his family, visited Norris Lake in 1996. During his visit, Tom recognized the need for a better designed & engineered dock than what existed at that time. With that in mind, he started Lifetime Docks in 1997. Tom’s background in sales and his love for building created the perfect environment for a thriving dock business to flourish. Tom began to build an amazingly hard working and dedicated team to work alongside him.
How We Became
Meanwhile, in Southern Middle Tennessee, Chris Stephens, and his brother-in-law, started their own journey on Tims Ford Lake, and created Docks Unlimited in 1998. During the 19 years Chris spent at Docks Unlimited, God blessed him with a gift of creativity, and lead him down the path of perfecting and fabricating their own steel galvanized box truss frames. Therein lies the link God used to connect these two hard working and God-fearing men.
Through word of mouth, Tom and Chris connected as a business relationship, for Chris to fabricate Tom’s frames. The seed was planted, and both men knew it. God began a great work, not only in both men, but in the lives and hearts of those around them as well. As some time passed, Chris and Tom went to a breakfast together at Cracker Barrel in Rocky Top. There. at the table, they had their first conversation about becoming business partners. Both men agreed to leave the conversation open and submit it to prayer, that God lead their path.
Chris and his wife, Ashley, had already been praying for 4 years about how and where God wanted to use their family, so when Chris called Ashley and said he and Tom had “The Talk”, she knew! She knew this was a divine appointment and God’s hand was in it.
And so, the next chapter began… Chris, Ashley, and their three children moved from Winchester, TN on December 31, 2016, and arrived in their new home in Jacksboro just after midnight on January 1, 2017. Chris and Tom started a 5-year partnership. Tom’s plan was to retire at the end of the 5th year. Over those next 5 years many changes came to Lifetime Docks. There were good changes, like with the addition of the in-house fabrication, and there were also tough changes, such as the flood that nearly wiped our shop out in 2019. BUT GOD… God had other plans for Lifetime Docks after that flood. One of our men said, as we stood in the muddy shop, “When you plant a garden, you flood out the weeds and till up the ground before the beautiful fruits and vegetables can thrive and flourish.”
God did just that. He provided a wonderful new building for us at 144 Industrial Parkway in Jacksboro, which has allowed us to expand our fabrications, boat lifts, and Touchless Boat Cover departments. We now have our shop at 705 Sugar Hollow Rd in LaFollette, dedicated to our Dock Build Crew, with plenty of room to assemble the dock, add finishing touches, and launch them to float to their new homes.
God continues to be the lead of the story… as the author, and no one will take the pen from His hand…
Who We Are Today
Tom LeJeune (along with his sweet wife Carol) is enjoying the retired life. Chris Stephens continues to lead Lifetime Docks with God First and with a motto of, “Build a team so strong that no one can figure out who the leader is…”
Lifetime Docks humbly carries the title as being the largest residential and commercial dock building companies in East Tennessee, has been in the top 5 Hydro Hoist Dealers for the last 5 years, and has been in the top 10 Touchless Boat Cover Dealers in the World with the last two years holding the #3 position.
We select the top leaders in the marine industry to supply our dock components. These manufacturers also provide us with essential engineering support and offer component warranties to our customers. All these factors, along with our integrity, quality workmanship, service, and customer satisfaction, have made Lifetime Docks East Tennessee’s largest residential dock builder. Each dock is carefully planned, designed, engineered, and built to meet the specific need of our customers. We operate on a year-round basis, so we’ll be there when you need us. We employ multiple full-time crews each with a specific focus to handle certain needs. What does this mean to our customers… no outside contractors! We simply do what we do best… build boat docks!
